For the sixth time, the Hungarian Wine Writers' Circle has evaluated the dry and semi-dry white and red wines made by Hungarian producers that its members had the opportunity to taste over the past year, and based on their experiences, they have put together their Super 12 selection of the best wines. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The members of the professional organisation have selected one white and one red wine from the shortlist as the winners of the Hungarian Wine Grand Prix 2021. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to the result, the winners were Hilltop Kamocsay Pr\u00e9mium Chardonnay 2019 from Neszm\u00e9ly and M\u00e1ty\u00e1s Cuv\u00e9e 2018 from Tam\u00e1s G\u00fcnzer Winery in Vill\u00e1ny. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThis is a unique competition, as the wine writers first rank the wines of the last five vintages with their votes, which in their opinion meet the most demanding consumer expectations with their outstanding quality and prove to be competitive in international comparison, and then the wines that have received the most nominations are judged twice, in different order, by two committees\u201d - emphasized the statement of the Hungarian Wine Writers' Circle.
    This time, 12 wine regions from the mainland and 2 from abroad (M\u00e9nes, Szer\u00e9ms\u00e9g) are represented in the 2021 Super 12 lists: with the most wines from Tokaj and Vill\u00e1ny (4-4) and Szeksz\u00e1rd (3).
    The wines include 16 varietal wines and 8 blends. In total, the producers used 17 grape varieties to make these wines, the most widely used being cabernet franc (8), merlot (6), furmint (5) and syrah (4).
    Among the 24 wines, there are 3-3 whites and reds whose producers are represented on the Super 12 list for the first time. Among the wineries regularly included in the selection, St. Andrea from Eger and G\u00e9za Balla from M\u00e9nes stand out, with a total of 9 and 6 entries respectively.
    For the first time in the history of the Hungarian Wine Grand Prix, the award goes to Neszm\u00e9ly, while Vill\u00e1ny takes the third first place.
    As in the past, the awards ceremony (trophies and certificates) will be held in Debrecen, organised by the Debrecen Wine Magazine, when the epidemiological situation allows the event to be held, the Hungarian Wine Writers' Circle said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
