The province of \u015eanl\u0131urfa in south-eastern Turkey, with its rich culinary culture, is planning to open a new gastronomic centre to preserve and showcase the authentic flavours of the region to the public.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to the head of the province, Zeynel Abidin Beyazg\u00fcl, every effort is being made to have the flavours of \u015eanl\u0131urfa recognised by UNESCO. They want to earn the title of \u201ethe oldest cuisine in the world\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For this purpose, the municipality is renovating an old mansion near Bal\u0131kl\u0131g\u00f6l, the former house of Sakip Efendi. \u201eWe are opening a gastronomic and cultural centre that pays tribute to the local culinary tradition,\u201d Beyazg\u00fcl said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The new centre welcomes Turkish and foreign tourists alike, and offers a chance to taste local specialities and see how they are made. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
