Meta (aka Facebook) has filed dozens of patents and McDonald's has filed trademark applications in the US, suggesting that the future and the 3D world of metaverse is no longer just knocking on our door.

Thousands of services are already available in the metaverse, and this is certain to explode in the months and years to come. And many are afraid of missing out on the business of the future, so they are even investing heavily to offer their services in the metaverse alongside the real world, with their established brands.

McDonald's could also seriously consider opening a virtual restaurant. The company, which operates almost 40,000 restaurants in almost 100 countries around the world, has filed several petitions with the US Patent and Trademark Office for the McDonald's and McCafe brands - reported the Daily Mail. But there are also trademarks for virtual food and drink products, and trademarks for running a virtual restaurant online.

And it is not inconceivable that the latter could work in combination. In other words, food ordered in virtual restaurants, which are well-designed, spectacular and within the experience of a 3D world that can be navigated by an avatar, could be delivered by thousands of couriers in real life.

It remains to be seen what the currency will be in such a case. And there is still no answer as to whether a user who has forgotten how to play the game and has an avatar that makes him feel like a superhero will want to escape and open the door.

Of course, these questions may be dwarfed by the high stakes: which metaverse under construction will be the winner, where to invest millions of dollars in presence and development now.
