Between 17 and 24 December, the Street of Hungarian Flavours will present a special Christmas edition at Millenáris, where, in addition to the gastronomic fair, family programmes will also be on offer.
In addition to fish dishes, the focus of the fair will be on stuffed cabbage, of which the organisers are offering more than a dozen varieties. In addition to stuffed cabbage made according to a 17th century recipe, you can taste stuffed cabbage with cornflakes from Satu Mare, stuffed cabbage with button and bogyiszló from Transylvania, or stuffed cabbage with bacon and sausage from Tura.
The menu will also include gypsy cabbage with wild boar meat, Karcag cabbage meat made from pork, and vegan stuffed cabbage made from aubergines, courgettes and red beans.
Hungary's winning bejgli for 2021 will also be available at the fair. This year's winner in the nut category was Andrea Simon and the Trattoria di Sophia restaurant, while the poppy seed bejgli made by Szurgent Artisan Ice Cream Parlour and Confectionery (Péter Szurgent) won the Poppy Seed Bejgli of the Year.
This year's winner of the Gourmet Bejgli of the Year was the cake of Ildikó Cukrászda (Ildikó Urbán) from Szarvas. The Advent Pearl is made with traditional Bratislava dough, filled with almond franc chipotle, chopped cranberries soaked in Irsai brandy, toasted and ground black sesame seeds and a hint of cinnamon.
In addition to the gastro fair, families can enjoy a colourful programme of activities on the Golden Sunday weekend and 24 December. On 17 December, the fair's Bethlehem will arrive from Ajka, while the next day the Bab Company will entertain with giant puppets, Sanyi Csoóri's musicians and a dance floor.
On 19 December, a playful family road safety education programme entitled Know More - Live Better will be organised by the Foundation for Cultivated Transport, and a Christmas concert by the Ghymes band will be held in Millenáris D, with guest artists Ildikó Piros, Erika Pápai and Csaba Pindroch. On the same day, 24 December, children can enjoy a performance of If the Sky King Comes in at the Mancsi Fabók Puppet Theatre.#
