The hospitality and tourism industry has been a stepchild of recent years and has been through many trials and tribulations. There have been many losers, and there have been winners but there is no doubt that both sectors are highly dependent on foreign tourism. What the hospitality-based sectors have been relying on so far is domestic tourism. So it is on domestic demand that the very sensitive demand can be built. Now that the first foreign visitors have opened the season, perhaps we can hope for a more fruitful summer season than ever before.

Hévíz-Balaton Airport tourist port
The Hévíz-Balaton Airport is an airport that few people know in our country, but Authoritative in the Balaton region. Its clear necessity stems from the fact that it is located in one of the most important tourist regions of our country. One could simply say that it is a tourist haven for the air port of Lake Balaton, connecting us with the world. Of course, it is not only Lake Balaton that benefits, but the entire Balaton region. After all, it is not only the Hungarian sea that attracts visitors, but also Hévíz, a spa famous throughout Europe, the Badacsony hills, the magnificent abbey of the Tihany peninsula and, of course, all the unique gastronomic experiences that can be experienced.

This year's first charter flight brought tourists to Hévíz-Balaton Airport not from close by, but from Dresden. A Sundair plane, which takes you to many places around the world to relax, looking to relax Mallorca, Tenerife, Corfu, Varna, Gran Canaria and now also Hévíz-Balaton Airport.
In the last year 2021, the crown virus has put its stamp on the entire season and the start of the charter season at Hévíz-Balaton Airport. As a result, last year only in June tourists could arrive, and in relatively small numbers. The signs are encouraging with the current arrival, as COVID, war situation or not, the first flight arrived with 120 passengers.

More tourists are sure to come this year
Attila Benkő, the managing director of Hévíz-Balaton Airport Ltd. said that the next charter flight is expected in three weeks, and this will start the season. They already know that nine more similar flights will arrive at Hévíz-Balaton Airport this season. Most of the flights are expected from Germany, probably from Frankfurt, Erfurt and Leipzig. How long the tourist season will last and how many more planes will land there is still subject to change, but the fact that Wizz Air will start scheduled flights from mid-June and will connect Dortmund with Hévíz-Balaton Airport is a great achievement.
The airport is not just for tourism, but as the region's only link to the rest of the world, it is particularly important for people coming to our country for business. It is also a place for private planes and sports aircraft, which is also in the interests of tourism.

So the season is off to a promising start
As the hospitality and tourism sectors have been mostly domestic in recent years, the statement by Hévíz-Balaton Airport is a very encouraging sign for the season. Both sectors could use a strong summer, a tourist-rich season, which might also help the region to recover economically. In the long term, the airport in Sármellék could even be the centre of efforts to showcase the beauty of our country, especially Lake Balaton, its landscape, flavours, wines and the warm hospitality that our country represents in Europe.
