They are not star chefs, they are not luxury chefs, but they are the chefs of choice for almost 2 million people! They are the ones who cook for us every day on pennies. Whether you look at the school canteen or the canteen at work, you can be shocked. “How on earth can you get a 3-course meal for well under 1000 forints?”
The National Association of Caterers and Food Service Managers, SIRHA, has once again organised a fantastic competition that is gaining in recognition and recognition. It is a competition between those who do not have to cook delicious and healthy meals from ingredients costing thousands of forints every day, but from pennies. They are certainly the real everyday miracle workers!
Public catering is also a competition
This year's competition attracted 28 entries of 4 to 4 teams - 12 of which made it to the final. The competition aims to preserve traditional flavours, modernise food and the catering sector, and use fresh, local ingredients. It is crucial that this sector of the catering industry caters for thousands of people every day. For this, they should be encouraged and recognised. The catering sector is, in essence, a food service for 1.5-2 million people.

The slogan of the competition
The main motto of the competition is „The journey is the destination!” This is the race with winners! Tradition, innovation, progress! These words say it all about what the competition is all about! The public catering competition was organised by prestigious professional organisations. The National Association of Caterers and Food Service Managers (KÖZSZÖV), the Hungarian National Gastronomic Association (MNGSZ) and the National Food Chain Safety Office (NÉBIH). This shows the importance of professional cooperation and is a good example of the importance of doing something in both the catering and tourism sectors.
The theme of the competition
The theme of the competition was: FARSANGI LIVES IN THE CONTEXT OF HAGGINITY AND EXTENSION. All the teams that took part in the competition performed well. The final order of places was established. But it is important to know that the teams were almost neck and neck, and the final result was only a few points away.
