If Greenland, then probably for everyone the cold and the polar lights come to mind. It has already few people know, is one of the largest islands on Earth. 90% of it is covered in ice and only on 10% has human life been able to survive „normally”. It is this ice island that gave its name and habitat to the Greenland halibut, one of the healthiest fish species on the entire globe.

In our country two species are known. The giant halibut, the halibut and the black halibut, the Greenland halibut. There is a not insignificant difference in size between the two, with halibut weighing up to several hundred kilos, while Greenland halibut can weigh between 60 and 80 kilos. There is no question that they like cold water, which makes their meat fatter and softer. Particularly suitable for for the summer barbecue, for cookies, and their taste can be a distinctively unforgettable experience. Halibut are one of the most expensive fish to catch, as they can only be fished in extremely harsh conditions and are in short supply on average per year.

Of course, it's the time of year when good juicy beef takes the cake, but if you're we've got our heads in the oven, not to be missed is the wonderful Greenland halibut!
There are many advantages to grilling halibut. First of all, you don't need very much of it, so you can prepare fully cooked dishes relatively quickly. Importantly, there is no need for the seasoning we are used to, as the flavour of the fatty flesh is perfect in itself. Another advantage is that even beginner barbecuers will find it easy to use.

Simple and great
Prepare your barbecue by leaving it alone for a while if it is wood or coal fired. You will need medium heat to grill the fish. Drizzle the fish fillets with a little olive oil, but only by feel. Season the fillets with salt and pepper, and gently flatten them. This preparation should be ample and then place on the grid. It will take 4-5 minutes to cook, of course turn halfway through. When you notice that the edges of the fish are starting to brown slightly, be ready, wait another 10-20 seconds and remove from the grill. Serve with a drizzle of jam. Serve with a fresh salad as a garnish.

Greenland halibut really are a wonder fish
It has been said many times that fish consumption in our country is far below average. And fish - whether freshwater or saltwater - is a great source of support for our bodies. Fish are generally low in cholesterol, which is responsible for many problems that are known as widespread diseases. They are also rich in phosphorus, iodine, fluorine, selenium, iron, potassium and calcium, which are important for the body, and are very rich in vitamins A, D, B2, B6 and B12.
And one of the most important is that fish meat is a significant source of Omega-3 fatty acids! It is important for our bodies throughout our lives, as it can prevent many diseases and plays a huge role in development. It is particularly important in preventing mental illness, as it reduces the risk of developing dementia, Alzheimer's and stroke. Unsaturated fatty acids are most effective when fresh fish is consumed. This is clearly shown by the statistics, which show that high fish-consuming nations have lower rates of cardiovascular disease and longer life expectancy.
Eating the flesh of halibut is an excellent way to detoxify the body. This is due to the high content of selenium, which can rid the blood of harmful substances by improving the condition of the liver.
