After 1 July, only the largest catering businesses will have to transmit their turnover data to the National Tourism Data Service Centre, but from 1 January 2024, the number of catering businesses with a turnover exceeding HUF 12 million will be extended. As there are still many questions about the digital platform, we will answer them all in our 3-part series.
Expanding the scope of NTAK data reporting
The proposal for a phased extension of the scope of data reporting in 2023 was formulated by the MTÜ in response to the environmental and economic situation and in consultation with industry stakeholders. According to this, from 1 July, only operators of the largest catering establishments and tourist attractions with a net turnover of more than HUF 100 million per service location in 2022 are obliged to provide data to the NTAK. They can do this through their own hospitality or ticketing software, but it is important to note that the vast majority of these businesses have used software for sales in the past.
From 1 January 2024, tourism businesses with a net turnover of between HUF 12-100 million will also join the NTAK data reporting population. With the extension of the NTAK, the economic performance of almost the entire tourism ecosystem will become visible. The MTÜ also supports operators of catering businesses and tourist attractions with a net turnover of between 12 and 50 million HUF in the digital transition with the VENDÉGEM Hospitality and VENDÉGEM Attraction software, so that they can also fulfil their data reporting obligations in a catering business or a tourist attraction with the free software. Although operators with a net turnover of less than HUF 12 million will not be obliged to provide data, the MTÜ recommends that they also switch to software-based sales in the long term.
