The tiger crab got its name because of its appearance and resemblance to a tiger, with a striped carapace and pattern reminiscent of a tiger's striped coat. It is one of the best known and most popular crab species, which we like to eat both grilled and in salads.

That's why we like to eat tiger prawns

We love it simply because it has no distinctive flavour. There is no annoying „fishy“ taste, it is characterised by a smooth and delicate flavour.

From the wide range of seafood, it is likely to be the most popular variety. It also stands out among the shrimps, growing up to 30-50 centimetres and containing more meat than any other variety. It is a real delicacy, even if we are watching our line, we can still eat as much of it as we like. By eating 100 g of shrimp, we are only adding 112 calories to our body. What's more, with its high protein content, it can cover almost all our daily needs.

The tiger crab is decorative

Tiger prawns look particularly pretty on the plate and are on the menus of many restaurants around the world for a reason. In luxury restaurants and select bars, the prawns are even served alongside or in cocktails. They are as versatile to serve as they are to prepare.

Tiger prawns can be prepared in an extraordinary number of ways

It is worth knowing that the shrimps can be prepared with or without the shell. However, if someone wants to cook or bake without the shell, cleaning comes first!

When raw, the tiger crab has a slightly bluish hue, but during cooking the shell changes to a beautiful red. Due to its thick shell, it has a very good heat retention capacity, so it cooks faster than other crab species.

When preparing it, you must therefore pay attention to the cooking time, if you cook it too long it will retain its beautiful white colour but will become rubbery and hard in consistency. The preparation of tiger prawns covers almost all variations in the kitchen: boiling, baking, grilling, smoking, marinating and many different dishes. The choice of recipes is endless when it comes to tiger prawns.

The Italians and even the French are crazy about it, but it is also a favourite of the Spanish and the Greeks, and it is eaten in South America, Australia and the Far East. When it comes to tiger prawns, it is almost inconceivable that they do not appear in some form in almost every cuisine in the world.
