Tucked away on the edge of the forest, the restaurant is a veritable oasis for those who want a few quiet hours, a delicious meal and the closeness of nature. The Kisrigó Restaurant is just like visiting your grandmother in the countryside. You are guaranteed to leave with a full belly and can't wait to return!
The history of the place goes back to 1981, when the then owner thought it would be great to have a place at the edge of the forest where you could have a strong black beer or an ice-cold spritzer at the beginning/end of a hike. They have since grown into a full-fledged restaurant, and much more than that, but more on that later. Since December 2021, they've been conquering the world with a new team and a new concept, and success hasn't been far behind...

„We have everyone at home”
In the words of chef Norbert Kürtösi, with the new owner they want to bring back and pass on the folk hospitality and closeness to nature. „We prepare big portions of food here because we love to eat and we love to give. Cooking on fat, peasant style, as in the old days, served in a small red casserole dish and covered with a plaid tablecloth. And what is just as important is that everyone is at home. Businessmen in suits, businessmen coming to a corporate event, hikers in boots and families with small children can all feel at home here.” I don't doubt that for a minute, because you really can spend a whole day here. While children can pet bunnies or chase chickens in one corner, older people can play foosball, ride horses or simply lie back in one of the deckchairs. If that's not enough, you can take the Kisrigo Restaurant experience home with you! The syrups, jams and marmalades made by local producers and served here chilik a wide range of products available for purchase.

Crispy sausages, oven baked cottage cheese and tomatoes picked from a high bed
The Kisrigó Restaurant is also a great choice if you want to show your friends the best of Hungarian gastronomy far away from the noise of the city. From the Jókai bean soup to the Kolozsvár stuffed cabbage and the cottage cheese balls, we have everything to be proud of. In the spirit of being close to the forest, they serve a variety of game dishes. The most popular are the with deer dishes, as well as the crispy leg of lamb with roasted garlic and with mashed potatoes. Their menu covers the whole day, so if you wake up with a rooster, feel free to drop by. There are 4 different dishes on the breakfast menu, we opted for the French toast. It's the ideal choice for both. If you're really (I mean really) hungry, or if you're walking at least 10 km afterwards, because it's really quite a big portion, even if the picture doesn't do it justice. I don't know whose idea it was first to fry white bread in oil, but unfortunately it was genius, and here it is topped off with with ham and with cheese are also filled.

Wild is big in Kisrigo!
And since their game dishes are so popular, we couldn't leave out the red wine venison ragout, which with wild mushrooms and potato croquettes served with. The meat is deliciously crumbly, incredibly succulent, ideally seasoned, and also not short of flavour. Although, if I'm honest, they could have put a dry bun in front of me if it came in such a small pan, because I love this type of restaurant. Of the less classic dishes, the pistachio pork tenderloin with lemon rice, so no way, we still have to come back!

Here, it's not a team, but a family that puts the food in front of you
The charm of Kisrigo is not only due to the environment, but also to the service. They see themselves not as a team, but as a family, and the service is a reflection of that. There are no nervous, tense faces and impatient waiters. I'm going to move on, because if you want, you can even get a little magic with your lunch, as one of your colleagues is studying to be a magician. I was pulling the French card with the enthusiasm of a five-year-old child and could have spent hours doing Gyuszi's tricks. There's also a teacher, a rock ’n’ roll fanatic and a thousand other likeable characters, so it's a real treat to sit in.
Attention! If you want to enjoy the unparalleled hospitality of Kisrigo on the weekend, make sure you book, because there are rarely empty tables.
