I can hardly imagine anyone who could say no to a proper potato casserole. There are thousands of versions of this deservedly popular dish, and I've brought you the classic recipe.

Ingredients for 4 people:

Preparing the casserole:

  • Peel the potatoes and cut into half cm thick slices.
  • Boil the eggs for 10 minutes, drain, cool, clean and slice.
  • A sausages cut into rings of any thickness.
  • Grease a baking pan with butter and place half of the potatoes, cut into rings, in the bottom of the pan, overlapping each other. Season with salt and pepper, place the sausage rings and egg slices on top.
  • Finally, add the other half of the potatoes. Again, season with salt and pepper.
  • Pour the sour cream over the top and sprinkle with grated peeled with parmesan.
  • Place in a preheated oven at 150 degrees and bake for about 1.5 hours, until the potatoes are tender. In the last 10 minutes of baking, raise the heat to 200°C to brown the top.                   

Served with pickled cucumbers or cucumber salad, it's the real deal!
