The May Food Truck Show is full of surprises

The Kincsem + Spring Horse Race and Food Truck Show is now serious traditions goes back. In total, it is the 82nd at Kincsem Park, and the 14th time that the outstanding event of the rolling kitchens has been organised. The twice-yearly festival, which is held either in street food is also a celebration of the EU, with a series of highlights from 5 to 7 May.

Every year, the Food Truck of the Year is chosen on the weekend of the May show. This is always based on audience votes and professional judging. Today we will find out which truck has won the honour. It's also the time when new cars are unveiled and new flavours are discovered. Every year there are also special innovations, as there are this year. On 6 June, the first Pizza Making Championship took place, where young talents showed off their skills. The jury was made up of experts, including chefs who have taken part in the world's biggest pizza making competition. And on Sunday, the Pancs Piac, the small farmers' market will move to the venue, where you can find handcrafted products and unique ingredients.

Sustainability is also an important consideration

Environmental awareness is also important for the Hungarian Street Food Association and its partners. As an important guideline, all trolleys use vegetable fibre for the food they serve. Plastic-free packaging and waste management was a high priority at the event. In this way, both the organisers and the participants wanted to set an example for the future of environmental protection.

The event was full of surprises for everyone. Of course, for racing enthusiasts, there were greyhound races, horse races, gallops and pony races, and even English thoroughbreds. There were also plenty of interesting free activities for children, including a real retro ring-litter show. The sports events were made even more interesting by the American football match and the student rugby cup.

Pizza making competition

The first ever Piaggio Pizza Making Championship, held for the first time this year, was met with great interest. It's no wonder, since pizza is a dish that almost everyone loves. More and more people in our country are turning to it professionally, and we can already boast several teams who recently took part in the World Pizza Championship. It is also no coincidence that the show was hosted by Chef Lázár, who himself has achieved great international success with P7 el (Pizza Napoletana by Lázár Chef). The jury had a hard time deciding, as there were better and better pizzas on the table.

Slow Pig Street Food Győr

Started as a family business, they have been operating their rolling „restaurant” since 2019. According to the owner, although the difficulties of the pandemic have not helped this sector, there has been a noticeable recovery in the last year. Their theme is also along the bbq line. Of course, the delicious meats are prepared in a smoker and kept on smoke for 12 hours. They definitely have fantastic pulled-meat sandwiches, of which they have four types on offer. They were also present at the event as MATUSZ-Wild's partner for the ingredients, as the meats, the bagettet, and the cheese are also sourced from here.

 Their buffet van has been on the road and at festivals for five years now. They specialise in American style bbq. They cook their meats in their own smoker, and sometimes even prepare these unique meats in front of their guests at festivals.
