Pasta is one of those staple foods we all love and a must-have on almost every menu. But when it comes to Italian pasta, we immediately know we're talking about a whole other dimension. Meet the Italian pasta company Surgital, who have given us an extensive demonstration of their old and new products in our sample kitchen in Budapest.  

Who they are

Surgital is one of the secret weapons of the Italian pasta world. They are not new to the market, but their recipes and pasta are guaranteed to take your culinary creativity to a new level. Surgital is Italy's leading producer of frozen fresh pasta, ready meals and cubic sauces for the HoReCa sector. The production site is located in Lavezzola, in the province of Ravenna. Surgital not only promotes Italian culture and traditional cuisine through its products, but also brings fresh pasta in all its varieties to every kitchen worldwide.

What makes it special

First of all, Surgital knows that pasta is not just a mixture of flour and water. Making real pasta is an art. Careful selection of ingredients, authentic recipes and traditional production methods make these pastas more delicious than you've ever tasted. Whether ravioli, lasagne or a simple penne, all Surgital products are made with the utmost care. 

What the event was about and who took part 

Representing the company was Maurizio Billi, Commercial Manager for Central and Eastern Europe, and their technical chef Tomas Turchi, who prepared 8 different fresh-frozen pasta dishes using 4 different sauces (toadstool, tomato seafood, green pesto, saffron). The presentation was attended by Matusz-Vad dealers from all over the country, and the event was translated by our sourcing colleague Márton Tóth. His aim was to ensure that, as sole distributors, our sales representatives learn all about the benefits and potential of the different products, which they can then pass on to our restaurant and hotel partners.

The choice of modern chefs

Many people think that Italian pasta is all about tradition. But Surgital proves just the opposite. Pairing traditional recipes with innovative technology, the company is constantly offering something new and exciting for chefs. On their website you'll find plenty of inspiration, whether you're looking for a simple lunch or a five-star dinner. The Italians say “Mangia bene, vivi felice” - “Eat well, live happily.” At Surgital, it's not just a saying, with their pasta you're guaranteed to bring happiness to your guests' meals.  

Her official profession is PR marketing, which she graduated from the BGE Faculty of Foreign Trade, but life has always led her to writing, and she has been working in this field for 7 years. A food lover from an early age, she loves to cook and is constantly visiting local restaurants in search of new flavours and trends. Previously, she worked for two years as a journalist-editor for Street Kitchen and then became one of the editors in charge of the Big Vega Book. He joined Matusz-Vad as editor-in-chief in May 2022. In addition to his responsibilities for Chef Inspiration, he is also responsible for creative writing in the company's marketing department. He has been a vegetarian for six years and is also a cheese and wine fanatic.
