Surgital's marketing manager and creative chef travelled all the way from Italy to our sample kitchen in Budapest to showcase their latest products. The event, which included an interactive tasting session, left our partners with lots of useful ideas and recipes.
Last October, our company had the honour of being awarded the highest quality Surgital, made from original Italian ingredients and based on a traditional recipe. we have become exclusive distributors. Since then, their range has grown to include fresh frozen pasta, gnocchi, sauces and all the convenience products you could wish for.
Since its foundation in 1980, the company is now present in more than 60 countries, selling three quarters of its turnover to the HORECA sector, and is particularly proud that 55% of this is served in its home country - a testimonial that is hard to beat. The 175 tonnes of pasta produced every day is made using the latest technology, but is just as delicious, that only Italian mums can do. As well as preserving tradition, they are also serious about combating climate change, sourcing water from wells drilled in their factories and putting a strong emphasis on using natural energy.

Taste, quality, health
At the event, which was sold out in both phases, it was stressed that, in addition to taste and quality, it is becoming increasingly important for the food ordered by guests to healthy and nutritious, so their recipes are created accordingly. The ingredients are always sourced from the right range, flavour enhancers are unknown, and preservation is done exclusively by blast freezing.
Our guests are the first to enjoy a classic tomato sauce with fresh basil riminesi pasta in the spirit of simplicity, with a perfect springy dough that takes 4-5 minutes to prepare. Its special feature is that it doesn't fall apart even if it's not immediately strained, which can be crucial in a commercial kitchen.

This was followed by a squid inked black taglionie, which is frozen in the form of a nest. This is practical for a number of reasons, but most importantly, it means that it is much less likely to break than if it were frozen in a straight form. The sauce is also a very user-friendly half kilo of pellets, in 7 gram packets. This can be used as a sauce, soup base and in many other forms, and our technical chef, Ferenc Székely, provided the guests with a variety of ideas.
Real solutions to today's problems
Of course, we couldn't leave out the two other wonderful Italian inventions, the risotto and gnocchi. The latter is available in two sizes and three flavours in our webshop, in our case spinach version was given a pecorino sauce topped with ham and breadcrumbs. The former has already been an undivided success among the audience on several previous occasions, as it is a real innovation on the market. While traditional risotto rice can take up to 15-20 minutes to cook and requires constant stirring and attention, Surgital's ready to serve after boiling in just 4 minutes, making it a real secret weapon in the commercial kitchen. A delightfully creamy, toadstool risotto is a speciality of our new partner, the Good epices crowned with a gorilla lab.

After that, the Italian company's OCD products were tasted. These offer a real solution not only to time constraints but also to space and labour shortages. Not (yet) on our shelves, but available in more than 50 flavours on the Surgital website tray products. They do not require any expertise or kitchen experience. You just pop them in the microwave, give them a little stir halfway through the time indicated on the packaging and they're ready to serve. So for small buffets, hotels and seasonal food trucks, it's the perfect solution without compromising on taste. What's even better is that they are guaranteed for 18 months against deterioration, so there's no need to worry about loss in a volatile market.
